Reports to: Waste Water Chief

Rousselot is the world's leading producer of gelatin and is a recognized partner in the pharmaceutical and food industries.

The Peabody facility has an opening for a Waste Water Treatment Operator. This role is responsible for operating Waste Water Treatment equipment in a gelatin manufacturing plant.

Job Duties:

  • Monitor the entire wastewater process, which includes the centrifuge sludge dewatering system, pH control, and flow control.
  • Operate and control electric motors, pumps and valves to regulate flow of raw water into treating plant.
  • Add specified amounts of chemicals such as; bleach, lime and sulfuric acid into water effluent or adjust automatic devices that admit specified amounts of chemicals into tanks to disinfect, deodorize and clarify process and effluent water.
  • Start and stop agitators to mix chemicals and allow impurities to settle to bottom of tank.
  • Start and stop blowers & monitor proper dissolved oxygen levels.
  • Monitor process through HMI's and adjust/control flow rates, valves, pumps and other equipment.
  • Monitor discharge water (effluent) for flow, B.O.D., T.S.S. on a continuous basis with daily limits.
  • Clean tanks, process lines and process areas.
  • Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
  • Perform testing for TSS, turbidity, iron and % solids for wastewater, water and sludge solids.
  • Record data related to the water and wastewater treatment system.
  • Communicate with other operations to ensure quality and that delivery needs are met.
  • Provide support to RPI as required by management.
  • Responsible for following and maintaining all Food Safety requirements.


  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Grade 4 Municipal Waste Water License
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Related experience and/or training
  • Perform Sampling and laboratory analytical work
  • Root cause and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical labor.
  • Be able to trouble shoot and repair WWT process equipment (within reason)
  • Basic computer skills, ability to use email
  • Understand applicable regulatory requirments

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Mechanically inclined and strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience in a Food Manufacturing environment 
  • Fork Lift experience or a Hoisting License is given special consideration

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Night Shift

This is a full-time position; the shift is 12 hours and on a 3 On / 3 Off schedule. Due to the 24/7 nature of the plant, work on weekends, holidays and overtime are requirements of the positon.
